Hi I'm Brianna and I am 18. I found out I had scoliosis when I was 12 years old. They told me that if I did not have surgery, I would die before 16. My spine was pushing on my lungs, heart (pulminary system). I don't know if I was born with scoliosis, but my grandmother had a mild case and my 11 year old nephew was just diagnosed (though he hasn't seen a specialist yet). I had my surgery on January 6, 2001, at age 13. They inserted Hamilton rods, and after cause a long road of hospitalization and complications. I have chronic severe pain, and my doctors have told me the only thing to do is to take pain medications. I am currently searching for alternatives for pain management. If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.
